WACL: Making Computing Simpler
All businesses
need a validated information security policy and part of this policy must be to
ensure data backup. As the lifeblood of a business data must be protected
against loss or unauthorised change. We can advise on or put in place procedures
to guard against this, to ensure regular backup of your valuable data.
Data may be a business’s most
valuable resource, and ensuring constant access to this data may therefore be
one of a firm’s most critical operations. Backup is the term used to describe
the copying of computer data for safe-keeping, ensuring this data is not lost.
Restore is the term most often used for the recovery of data from backup media.
Any data held on a computer system may be subject to loss; it is thus essential
to take regular copies of that data so that in the event of loss it may be
restored with little or no loss of business.
In extremis, such as a fire, your complete computer system may be ‘lost’. WACL
are available to assist you to quickly set up a new computer system with
restored data such that you may continue your business activity with as little
loss as possible. WACL systems consultants specialise in this form of disaster
recovery, working alongside our clients to mitigate problems in this area before
they occur.
- Backup
- We can create procedures
and set up systems to ensure your data and systems are backed up regularly
and securely either on to secondary media or via internet facilities.
-
- Restore
- When data has been lost or
corrupted we can assist in restoring it from backup media. Indeed if the
integrity of data or system backup is to be ensured then that backup should
be tested by performing a restore. We can assist in this function.

- Disaster
Recovery
- Unfortunately there is a
possibility, however small, that your complete computer system could be
lost, your data, systems and equipment could become unusable, for example
through fire, flood, vandalism or robbery. We can set up systems and
procedures such that in these events your computer system could be up and
running within a fairly short period of time (e.g. 24 hours) and so your
business itself would not be at risk.

Whatever your computer backup
requirements WACL can assist you.
